Anwar Khurshid
The
first series of courses on sitar is taught by Anwar Khurshid who has
been a performing musician for the last twenty years.
Anwar
Khurshid is very passionate about Inidan Classical Music and is
commited to preserving and spreading the interest in Classical Music.
At a tender age of four, he started learning Indian
Classical Vocal music under Ustad Akhtar Warsi and later with
Ustad Qazi Zahoor ul Haq. His started learning sitar from
Ustad
Nasiruddin in Islamabad. Ustad Nasiruddin became the biggest influence
on both his music as well as teaching and sitar became his medium of
expression. Though he did play other instruments on the side
and
continued with his vocal training under Ustad Zahid Farani and Ustad
Ghulam Haider Khan, sitar continued to be his passion. He
also
learnt tabla and rhythym work under Ustad Mohammad Tufail.
Anwar
is a gifted musician with a calm and peaceful temperament.
His
own training was under the traditional guru shishya
parampara
Anwar. However Anwar strongly believes in a spirit of
enquiry,
questioning, analysis and sharing of knowledge. He is clear,
precise and honest to the concepts that he teaches. As a
person
he is kind, generous, humourous and a genuine friend.
